While the Counseling Center continues to receive scholarship opportunities each year by mail, it is becoming more common to search for scholarships via the internet. We will continue to list scholarships that we receive by mail and make them available to our seniors by way of a hard copy and through our Web site. It has been recommended that each student register with FASTWEB, a free way to search for scholarships to help with paying for college and the College Board. The FASTWEB web site is www.fastweb.com. Below is a list of scholarships that have been available to our students in the past as well as current ones that continue to come in through the mail. Scholarships may be able to be accessed via the internet. The month that the scholarships are usually available is listed below. Keep checking the scholarship websites for active deadlines.
THE DAVE BRADY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund gives first preference to graduates of Central Catholic High School and Schlarman High School who enroll at St. Ambrose University and who intend to major in one of the sciences. AMERICAN LEGION SCHOLARSHIPS
The Counseling Center has a book called, "Need A Lift" that lists scholarships, grants, and loans for which students may qualify to help provide money for college. The Oratorical Contest shares $138,000. in college scholarships. Visit the American Legion online for more info.

BroMenn Healthcare Scholarships
Scholarships range from $1,500-$12,000.
Scholarships for designated degrees/certificates are available to BroMenn employees as well as to external applicants. Applicants must be accepted into an accredited or appropriate school, mail a letter of interest, a minimum 3.20 GPA must be maintained throughout the duration of the scholarship, complete an online application, have two letters of recommendation, and successfully participate in an interview. GOLDEN APPLE SCHOLARS PROGRAM
A pre-service teaching program with up to $28,000 in financial aid for students who plan on teaching as a career. Recipients must finish their bachelor's degree, obtain an Illinois teaching certificate and teach for five years in an Illinois school of need. Students must be nominated and selection is based upon application, academic performance, personal essays, and three letters of reference. The Violet Richardson Award honors young women between the ages of 14-17, for volunteer action. DUCK BRAND DUCT TAPE CONTEST
Open to students age 14 or older who are attending a highschool prom in the spring. Entrants must enter as a couple and attend a high school prom wearing complete attire or accessories made from duct tape. The submission us include a color photograph of the couple together in prom atire. The first place consists of a $2500 scholarship for each member of the winning couple and $2500. cash prize to the school that hosted the prom. IAA Foundation Scholarships
The IAA Foundation is awarding several scholarships for students who will major in agriculture, agribusiness, or an agriculture-related course of study in college. Eight $750 scholarships will be awarded. Applicant must be a major in agriculture, agribusiness, or an ag-related field.
Martha J. and Walter J. Wills Scholarship
One $300 scholarship will be awarded. Applicant’s parents must be Illinois Farm Bureau members who live on and operate a farm and must attend Southern Illinois University College of Agriculture majoring in any course except horses, floriculture, or forestry.
William J. Kuhfuss Memorial Scholarship
One $1.200 scholarship will be awarded. Applicant must attend a post-secondary institution in the state of Illinois (including junior colleges and trade schools) and working toward an occupation in an ag-related field. Preference is given to students from an agricultural background.
Greg Carney Scholarship
One or two $750 minimum scholarships will be awarded. Applicants must attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and major in agriculture, be actively involved in production agriculture in a family farm operation, and be a current or former 4-H member.
Dale E. Butz Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded. Applicant must have a background in production agriculture that is majoring in agriculture, agribusiness, or an ag-related field. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of scholastic ability and financial need.
Fletcher A. Gourley Scholarship
Four $1,750 scholarships will be awarded. Two to children of current patrons (defined as a producer who sells milk to Prairie Farms Dairy) of the Prairie Farms Dairy and two to children of current employees of the Prairie Farms Dairy. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of exceptional scholastic ability and/or financial need.
Jewel-Osco Drug Scholarships
Both Jewel and Osco Drug award $500 - $1,000 scholarships to students who are current employees. Selection is based upon academic achievement, school and community involvement, job performance, and a strong interest in a career with Jewel or Osco. Key Club International offers seven different scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500. Applicants must be active Key Club members who have at least a 3.50 GPA, participated in several service projects, completed the application, supplied reference letters, and written an essay. Corn Belt Energy offers this program to students (sophomores, juniors, or seniors) whose parents are Corn Belt Energy members (families who receive Corn Belt Energy electric or natural gas service). The recipient may use his/her Children of Veterans

National Defense Transportation Association Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to promote careers in Business, Transportation Logistics, and Physical Distribution. Although all students may apply, preference will be given to students pursuing these and related courses of study. An essay is required.

USA Funds awards renewable scholarships to students with financial need. Bloomington Kiwanis ON TRACK Award –
This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a student who has faced adversity at home or at school and has overcome that obstacle to get back “on track” with their lives and remain focused on continuing education. Students must be nominated, however there is no restriction on who may nominate a student. The person making the nomination must write and explanation of how the student got back on track.
