Review for Non-fiction

Read p. 353 – Autobiography:  Written Memory

416-517 – Essays and History:  Thoughts and Reports

468-469 – Persuasion:  See It My Way

Look at these pages that you read earlier in class.  Multiple choice questions will cover the material in these information sections.

There are also a few questions on similies, metaphors and ironies based on Night.

NON-FICTION – There will be a non-fiction story to read in class (3-4 pages) with questions to answer in complete sentences.  The questions will pertain to understanding the content, analyzing the content and applying the content.  Some of the terms above will be pertinent in the understanding of the selection, i.e., irony, tone, anecdote, etc.

ESSAY – This will focus on Night and Julius Caesar.

This will be a three-division essay (introduction, body, conclusion).  Write using all the appropriate skills for a formal English paper.  Use good organization, grammar and mechanics. Remember that you should name the selections and authors in your introduction.

Irony has played a major role in many of the selections that we read this semester.  Looking specifically at Night by Elie Wiesel and Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, identify examples of irony and how it was important in the overall work.  One example must be from Night, one must be from Julius Caesar, and your third example can be from either source for a total of three examples.  A more skilled effort will include more than three examples.
