Science Club

Students interested in joining this year's Science Club should see Mr. Taber or Mr. Paine.

1) We are interested in students with artistic/creative talent who would like to demonstrate "Scientific Art".

2) Possible Science Club activities include science photography, bird watching, rockets, balloon launchers, tree planting, building a foxhole radio, field trips, prairie burns in the spring, solar power cars, building a motorized vehicle (go-cart), building a telescope and more.  If enough students are interested in any type of science activity, contact Mr. Taber and we will work on it.  Bring your creativity.

3) Students interested in participating in a prairie burn this spring this spring, see Mr. Taber for details.

Science Competition Club

1) Each year, we enter a bridge-building contest.  Last year, our number one bridge came in 10th place out of 101 bridges entered in the Bradley University competition at Northwoods Mall in Peoria.  See Mr. Paine or Mr. Taber for details.  http://peoria.k12.il.us/pahs/BalsaBridge.html

Chess Club -- Central Catholic Chess Players Organization

Students interested in Chess should see Mr. Taber.  We usually have chess available during Frosh Homeroom in Rm. B27.  Individual chess boards may also be placed in other home rooms if there is interest.  Ask your homeroom teacher if they have a chess set or would like to have one.

Rubik's Cube

In past years, many Central Catholic students have taken the time to learn how to solve the Rubik's cube. Some students have become proficient enough to be able to solve the cube in under two minutes.

If a student wants to learn to solve this puzzle, they should see Mr. Taber.

If a group of students should become interested in forming a Central Catholic Rubik's Cube Club, that is also a possibility.
