World Studies Parent Letter

World Studies

*Note to Parents*

Welcome back! I am excited and honored to be teaching your child again this year! Here are just some important points for World Studies this year:

o        It is usually best to contact me by e-mail. I will check it in the morning before school, during my plan period (9th hour), and usually at home too, so if there is a concern please contact me! My e-mail: llacoy@blmcchs.org

o        I will continue to weekly update my website with lessons, homework, and study guides. If your child is ever absent please check with the website so they can keep up with the class. If you think of any additions to the website to help you and your student better, let me know! My website: http://www.blmcchs.org/sites/llacoy/

o        Current Events: Students will be required to read the front page of the Pantagraph everyday in class to keep up with current events. If your child is absent they must keep up with the current events. The Pantagraph does have a great website (with great coupons!) & I will keep some extra newspapers in my class.

o        Geography Fair: Friday, December 5th (12:00-2:20)

o        Written/Oral report due: Wednesday, November 19th

o        This is project is a large part of their grade and will take a lot of time out of class! We will work on it in class and I will have designated due dates for rough drafts, etc. I will have a Geography Fair section on my website to keep you updated as well.

o        Materials your student will need for class:

o        Pens or Pencils

o        Folder and loose-leaf paper

o        1 Notebook (for World Studies only)

o        Daily Planner

o        Note cards

o        I know many of you from last year and I am truly honored to be teaching your child again.  Please, if you have any concerns e-mail or call me. I want your student to not only understand world history and geography, but grow a passion for why it is significant to their life.
