Theology Parent Letter

August 20, 2008

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Parent Open House and welcome to Freshmen Theology! My name is Lauren La Coy and I am a graduate of Illinois State University [Go Redbirds!].  I am originally from the south suburbs of Chicago and through God’s Divine Providence I am here with you and your child! First, let me say I am truly honored to be part of your child’s faith formation. I understand that this is a very important role that I take very seriously and prayerfully.

Freshmen theology will be studying the Old and New Testament of the Bible with the Great Adventure Bible Timeline as our guide.  This class will give a basic overview of Salvation History; which is the greatest love story ever told—between mankind and God. By the end of the year students will understand the basic story of Salvation History and how it relates to their life.

Theology class is also the center for the Living the Faith Christian service program.  Students must complete 10 hours of Christian service each semester.  The hall hours are due December 1st. More information can be found on the Living the Faith link at www.blmcchs.org. If you have any further questions please contact me through e-mail.

Our theology classroom will uphold the mission of Central Catholic High School in “reinforcing the attitude of Christian service, respect for life, and responsibility to one’s self and the community at large”.  Our classroom will support the family orientated faith community.  The classroom will be a community that supports the growth and knowledge of our faith.  This community obviously extends to the parents and family as well! For this community to flourish I ask for your prayers and support of our theology classroom.  You can reach me by email [llacoy@blmcchs.org] or phone [309-661-7000, ext. 1234].  You can also visit my CCHS homepage for the weekly class schedule and any updates at http://www.blmcchs.org/sites/llacoy/.

I ask you again for your continued prayers for your children’s growth in faith in this class and school community.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Miss Lauren La Coy

P.S: Please let me know if you are interested in helping out with freshmen homecoming float building!!
