My Background

This is my 4th year of teaching theology at Central Catholic. The decision to move here to teach has been one that has been filled with many blessings for me. I am privileged to work with young people who constantly lead me deeper in my own faith. Central Catholic is also where I met my wife Maria (who also teaches theology here). We were married on July 15, 2006 in Wilmington, Delaware (where Maria grew up) by Fr. Henehan--who first introduced us. Our daughter Anna was born on August 27, 2007.

I am originally from St. Louis and received a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Missouri in 1995. I spent the next 5 years working first as a design engineer at Cat in Decatur and then as a test engineer at the Cat Proving Ground in Peoria. I still spend my summers working for Cat as an engineer.
While I was blessed to have good friends and a good job at Caterpillar, I believed that God was calling me elsewhere. I spent a year discerning the priesthood while still at Caterpillar. Then in August 2000, I resigned from Cat to discern the priesthood full time.
I enrolled in the pre-theologate program at Franciscan University of Steubenville (in eastern Ohio). Here I focused on my prayer life and on what God was asking me to do.
Based on this period of prayer, I decided that the Lord was calling me to serve the Church by bringing our Faith to high school students. I spent a total of 3 years at Franciscan University to obtain a Master's Degree in Theology. Truly this was only the start of my education in my Faith. Every day my students help me to fall more in love with God and the Mystery of His will through their honest questions and desire to know more about Him. God has blessed me to be here at Central Catholic.
