Class Expectations and Grading Policy

Course Expectations

Respect—       At the most basic level, this will include respect for all celebrations of prayer—whether in the classroom or in the chapel, respect for the content of the course (although open dialogue is encouraged), respect for the authority of all teachers and staff, respect for fellow classmates, respect for self, and respect for the classroom.

Charity—       Charity, a truly Christian virtue, goes beyond mere respect to love as Christ loves.  Growth in charity requires an openness to living in virtue.  Every student is expected to strive for charity in his or her actions.

Investment—Because this course ultimately deals with eternal salvation, each student is expected to take an active part in class discussions and in the completion of all assigned work.  Students are expected to invest their tiem and talent in the work at hand.

Grading Policy

Grading will be based on the grading scale outlined in the handbook.  Homework and short pop quizzes will be given regularly (almost every day) to insure mastery of the assigned material.  Late work will be significantly penalized and will only be accepted for one week after the assigned due date.

Quarterly grades will be assigned using the CCHS grading scale.  Homework and quizzes will typically be worth 5-20 points based on the assignment.  Each test will be worth 100 points.  In addition, a participation grade will be assigned once per quarter.  This will be based on involvement, cooperation, and conduct in the classroom.  From time to time, a project may also be assigned.

Cheating (which includes the copying of homework assignments) will be severely punished.  Students caught cheating on tests will receive a zero on that test.  Students caught cheating on quizzes or homework will receive a zero for that assignment and its weighting will be tripled.
