MICROS I
Required of all freshmen. Students will learn computer word processing procedures for formatting reports and documents using “Microsoft Professional 2007.” Instruction will focus on Word, Excel, Power Point, and Internet research. Class will be taught in conjunction with 9 weeks of oral communications where students will focus of the fundamentals and techniques of writing and delivering an oral presentation. Students will demonstrate oral and listening skills through a series of short individual speeches, giving glory to God through the gift of speech, from a Catholic Christian viewpoint, with God as the Creator of all. The proposed final for this combined course is a Power Point Presentation. In addition, this class will reaffirm the ways in which we use language. Language can be selected that will make a point but not demoralize another person; words can be caring, considerate, and help to develop a positive self-image.
MICROS II
Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor and/or at least a “B” in Micros I.
This one semester course acquaints the students with a number of applications in the “Microsoft Professional 2007” suite. Students will investigate Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Publisher, and Internet searches. Issues that relate to the Catholic faith will be discussed from a Catholic perspective.
