SCHOOL ISSUES: A POWER POINT PRESENTATION
Presentations begin in Dec! Be ready!
Your Final Exam from Microcommunications will consist of a speech paired with a power point presentation. You should prepare a 3-5 minute power point presentation. Prepare it as if you were proposing this change to the faculty, administration, and education commission. (Your actual audience will be your class and your teacher.) You should prepare a minimum of 10 power point frames, and at least one graph or chart, clip art and animation, bulleted lists, and word art. Be sure to practice the speech before you give it. We will give the presentations in December.
Choose an issue at CCHS that you feel is important and that you feel you could do the best job discussing as a problem/solution type of issue. Think about the issues that frequently concern the school, both students and faculty/administration. Be creative! Possible choices include:
Homeroom should be eliminated.
CCHS should go to an all block schedule.
CCHS should extend the lunch period and/or have an open
lunch.
An extra class period is needed at CCHS.
Members of the athletics teams should be given academic
credit, should not be required to take PE that semester.
Course testing should be scheduled for specific days.
Semester exams should be scheduled for specific days.
CCHS should revise the time schedule for the school day.
Extra curricular activities should be given academic credit.
The length of classes should be changed.
Band and chorus, and/or Driver’s education should be
scheduled as a regular class during the academic day.
Saturday morning detentions should be established.
These issues can be argued either pro or con. Instead of jjust speaking using opinion, you should do some research. Survey a minimum of 50 people. What has CCHS done in the past? What do other schools do? What would be the benefits? Is it possible? Statistics, facts, and interviews will add to the overall presentation. Remember to credit any sources you use.
