Class Rules and Grading Policy
Miss Zerbonia Room B-28
1. No food or drink in the chemistry room and lab.
2. Bring all materials with you to class each day. You are responsible for the following items and may receive a detention if you do not have them with you:
pen / pencil 70 page notebook 3- ring binder textbook handouts
scientific calculator assignment notebook
3. Be in your assigned seat when the bell rings. Do not show up late without a pass from the office or a teacher.
4. Respect your fellow students and myself by not talking when you are not supposed to. Do not do other assignments while class is going on. I will take these away.
5. I despise cheating - so don’t do it. If you can’t do the homework, come see me before class begins. I will follow the student handbook with respect to cheating. This means calling your parents and a zero on the test, quiz, or assignment.
6. No cussing in the hallway or classroom. No pushing or shoving.
7. Do not write on the desks, walls, or bulletin boards. Leave the desks and chairs where you find them and how you find them. Clean up after yourself by throwing all garbage in the wastebasket. First hour will take all chairs off the desk tops and Ninth hour will place all chairs on the desktops.
8. YOU are responsible for make-up work when you are absent - whether planned or unplanned. I will write out missing assignments once and you may ask your friends what you have missed. You will turn in all homework and take tests on the day that they are assigned unless it has been a prolonged absence. Do not show up for half a day and expect to be dismissed from the assignment / test.
9. Grades will be based on labs, homework, tests, quizzes, reports, etc. The grading scale can be found in the student handbook. Expect homework 3 - 4 nights per week. Keep in mind that homework can help you incredibly or hurt you incredibly - the choice is yours. You are responsible for your grade. I don’t give them out - you earn them. Your semester grade will be determined in the following manner: 1st Quarter - 40% 2nd Quarter - 40% Exam - 20%
10. No late work will be accepted. Homework should be neat, legible and include your name. It should be individually done. Show all work!!!
11. You are welcome to see me both before and after school for extra help. Please make sure you tell me ahead of time. Don’t show up at 7:50 with major issues about the test today!!!!!!!
12. Do not go into the lab area or lab drawers without permission. Never enter the storeroom or prep room.
13. On lab days, take only a writing utensil and lab sheet into lab.
14. Do not approach or use the shower or eyewash unless told to do so.
15. I will hand out grade sheets every other week on Fridays. Personal grading questions will not be handled during class and should take place before / after school. If you need a blue sheet filled out on Fridays, please leave it on mydesk at the beginning of class.
